Foothills Arts continues to present its annual programs and often works with NCCC to create music, theater, and other cultural events. In addition, more programs are being planned involving young people and including literature, writing, and nontraditional arts and crafts.

Weekend Adult Art Classes at forARTSake

  • Apr. 5, Sat., Apr. 6, Sun. 9-3. Loose Expression in Drawing. Charles Atwood King. $120 plus materials. Professional artist Charles Atwood King will use a large format surface to discuss and demonstrate the elements of drawing. Different media will be explored as participants are encouraged to develop a free expression in their drawings. A large size sketch book will be needed. Participants will be encouraged to bring in drawing media. Some materials available for sharing.  Bring a bag lunch. Beverage and dessert will be provided.

 

  • Apr. 12, Sat., 10-4. Working in Collage from the Beginner to the Experienced. Julie Davies. $75. In this one day workshop, participants will learn collage basics as well as some experimental and advanced techniques. Everyone is requested to bring in a variety of two and three dimensional objects which are interesting to them and which could be incorporated into their collages. Bring a bag lunch. Beverage and dessert will be provided.

  • Apr. 19, 26, Sat., 9:30-4:30. Wake Up Your Drawing Side. Diane Leifheit. $140 plus materials. Professional artist Diane Leifheit will teach this non-judgmental drawing class using pencil, charcoal, and pastel. Participants will receive training in really "seeing" the world around them and to start using a journal to encourage drawing so that it becomes a daily practice. Bring a bag lunch. Beverage and dessert provided.

  • May 3, Sat., 10-2. Painting in Oils. Wilson Bickford. $45 including materials. "Stand of Birches" is the oil painting participants will complete in the 4 hour session. Using the Alexander method of instruction, participants will complete a painting on a 16 x 20 canvas. All materials provided. Bring a bag lunch. Beverage and dessert provided.

Apr. 11,18. 3 to 4:30PM. Creative Expression in Pen and Ink. Linda Sauther A Free Workshop. Ages 9 and up.  Students will learn the basics of pen and ink to create works of art to take home.This is a  free Workshop by Foothills w/ funds from Young Artists in Action.

May 3., Sat., 3 to 4. Designing Your Own Jewelry for Children. A Mother’s Day Project with Nancy Child. A Free Workshop. Nancy Child will help students select jewelry materials and then will show them many creative ways to combine these materials to come up with unique jewelry designs and creations.  This is a  free Workshop by Foothills w/ funds from Young Artists in Action.
